Job Description

Doosan Bobcat is seeking a skilled Lead Engineer with experience in Creo in Litchfield MN. The lead engineer will supervise sustaining, creation, and development of major processes, manufacturing lines, or manufacturing cells in order to lead industry in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Administer and coordinate manufacturing engineering policies, practices and programs designed to increase plant productivity and reduce costs through improved production methods and optimum utilization of equipment, manpower and materials. Manage a team in order to accomplish these tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Process Analysis

  • Be aware of trends and developments in process design from vendors, industry & divisional contacts. Apply new techniques beneficial to improve services to the division by implementing new, or revising present, manufacturing engineering processes or systems.
  • Plan and conduct feasibility studies to ensure full utilization of division facilities and equipment, improve flow of materials, conserve material and labor and improve operations control.
  • Facilitate departmental workload to maximize efficiency of personnel and direct the implementation and maintenance of labor standards. Work with other departmental functions in completion of assigned projects.
  • Prepare and participate in presentations to internal and external audiences. Coordinate activities closely with Site Managers in design and implementation of plant layout, tool, machine, equipment, and process changes.

Project Execution to a Disciplined Process

  • Improve project execution by encouraging the use of a disciplined problem-solving approach.
  • Direct the process of engineering releases, deviations and change notices pertaining to manufactured, purchased and interplant parts.
  • Establish metrics to define successful completion and handoff of a project to production.

Management of Team

  • Assign work with alignment to regional and or departmental priorities as well as individual development needs. Direct selection, training, compensation, discipline, and development of departmental personnel.
  • Coordinate activities closely with other departments and or facilities in the implementation of ECN’s, new processes, and methods.

Finance

  • Establish budget for projects and track the spend to ensure it is on track.
  • Work with departments in an application of standards to capacity planning.
  • Plan and/or assist in the development of capital equipment justifications implementing approved expenditures.
  • Departmental Planning & Coordination-Prepare department budget, submit for approval.
  • Regularly review expenditures for conformance to approved budget.

Strategic

  • Take part in Annual Operations Planning (AOP) and Long-Range Plan (LRP) development.
  • Assist with scoping and Manufacturing business case for projects.
  • Assist with NA footprint development.
  • Ensure NA Process/best practices alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field with >7 years relevant experience and >4 years managing people.
  • Experience leading and developing engineering teams in the development of a single product, product function and/or product improvement/optimization effort.
  • Clear understanding of the product development and validation processes and customer needs achieved through experience with one or more of the company’s products, dealers, and customers.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with other functions of the organizations.
  • Ability to develop and mentor engineers at various levels in their careers.
  • Creative and visionary approach to projects with ability to influence innovation across multiple organizations and levels through technical aptitude and understanding of team’s strengths.
  • Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity, and providing creative solutions and influencing multi-discipline teams with data, scientific reasoning, and strong coaching skills.
  • Basic project management methodologies and tools experience.
  • < 10% travel
  • Oracle, Apriso, AutoCAD/Creo, MS Project experience preferred
