Job Description

Design Engine is seeking a skilled part-time CNC operator for 10 to 20 hrs per month. Design Engine is a school where professionals can learn Solidworks or learn Creo among other utilities. If you were to accept this position the new hire can audit training as interest may necessitate.

Design Engine is looking for a JR CNC operator to help generate a wide variety of prototype parts. This position could grow into full time but for now, it’s part-time.

Responsibilities

  • Prep CAD model either in Solidworks, Creo, or Fusion for the machining process.
  • Preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Purchase cutting tools as necessary
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure the functionality

Specifics

  • The automatic Tool changer needs some adjustment and is close to functional.
  • Update machine for Lathe *not installed
  • Understanding the specifications of a Solidworks or Creo part at the part level.
  • Make suggestions on modifications to the 3d model for prep for GCODE.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC operator
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Computer savvy with a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
  • Good communication abilities
  • Aluminum, ABS, and various forged geometry cutting mostly.
