Responsibilities:

  • Interface with NUWC’s SolidWorks PDM Vault when designing and updating models for Special Support Equipment products.
  • Update models for all Special Support Equipment products in the Solidworks PDM Vault, as necessary, ensure compliance with Configuration Management (CM) processes.
  • Lead and manage all Special Support Equipment drawings-related tasking assigned by the Configuration Review Board (CRB).
  • Complete all Special Support Equipment -generated OQE necessary for drawing/model update per Special Support Equipment Documentation Control SOP.
  • Perform peer review on newly created or revised engineering drawings and models prior to release. Peer review includes GD&T review, drawing notes review, and general drawing conformance review in accordance with ASME Y14.100 and MIL-STD-31000.
  • Design, model, and prototype new Special Support Equipment products including laboratory-use special support equipment and production-related fixtures.
  • Provide mechanical analysis and review of all contractor-developed design of Special Support Equipment products.
  • Generate detailed reports, and present project progress, risks, and key milestones to project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Requirements/Skills:

  • BS 0-2 Years
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with Visio or similar engineering documentation tools is a plus.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., CMMI) is a plus.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of U.S. submarine platforms and operating environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with initiative and the ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Understanding of DoD engineering design practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, specifically AN/BLQ-10, is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Secret Clearance. Active or very recent DoD Security clearances are a plus.

Equal Pay Act: This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
