Full-Time Mechanical Design Engineer

Successful candidates will join the MIDI team, focused on developing a diverse range of products from medical devices to scientific and industrial applications. Responsibilities encompass initial Voice of the Customer research, product conceptualization, CAD design, stress/load analysis, prototyping, material selection, and guiding manufacturing processes. Experience with embedded system development, both in software and hardware, is a significant plus. Team members will collaborate closely with company leadership, staff, and clients, playing a crucial role in bringing innovative products from concept to commercialization.

Job Responsibilities:

New Product Design & Development:

• Work with senior MIDI members to conceptualize and generate engineering concepts for products that involve and solve unique applications while supporting user needs.
• Utilize SolidWorks to transition concepts into manufacturable subassemblies parts and engineering drawings.
• Deep familiarity with manufacturing and material processes (injection molding, die cast, sheet metal, thermoforming, rapid prototyping, etc.).
• Desire to work collaboratively with various teams consisting of ME, EE, SE, and ID disciplines.
• Ability to contribute to the engineering, building, and assembly of prototypes and test fixtures.
• Source vendors and materials as well as procure components to facilitate engineering work.
• It is a plus if the candidate has previous exposure or desire to be trained in the following:

– Electrical engineering concepts including: schematics, board layouts, wiring documentation

– Design Verification Plans / Product Requirements Documentation / Design History Files

– Experience in Design Control / DFM / GMP / FDA / ISO standards

Qualifications:

• BS or higher Degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience in product development
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (CFD experience is a plus)
• Proficiency with GD&T
• Exposure and/or desire to ideate and be collaborative
• Self-motivated proactive thinker
• Strong verbal, technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Exposure to working in a cross-functional, multi-disciplined environment
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, DFM/DFA as well as rapid prototyping processes
• It is a plus if the candidate has exposure or desire to be trained in the following:

– Experience working in a Design Control environment

– Experience working in the medical industry

– Basic electronics and circuits knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
