Education and Experience
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of tool design experience
Desired
- Some programming experience using CAD/CAM technology
- 2-year degree in Tooling or related discipline
Responsibilities
- Designs new tooling per standard practices
- Leads tool design review meetings
- Designs tool rework as requested by Engineering
- Evaluates processes and methods for tool design
- Works cooperatively with designers, engineers, tool makers, and machinists to solve design problems and/or resolve scheduling conflicts
- Performs virtual molding and flow simulation
- Manages daily SolidWorks maintenance tasks
- Evaluates processes and methods of tool design
- Works with service and/or product suppliers
- Assists in proposals for new projects
- Uses CAD/CAM software to develop design and machine programming
- Monitors workload and works with other programmers to plan, prioritize, and adjust job schedule to maximize machine utilization and meet due dates.
- Maintains tool databases, machine tool information, programming standards, and backups of machine-specific settings and program information.
