Full-Time Sr. Design Engineer – Electro-Mechanical Actuation

Job Description

This position will serve as our technical expert for our Electro-Mechanical Actuation product that is being developed. The Electro-Mechanical actuator is a key component used in electrically powered aircraft. This position will collaborate directly with customers and cross-functionally with our internal sales, marketing, design, and operations teams.

Key Accountabilities

• Serve as technical expert and lead technical discussions with customers on the application of Rexnord Aerospace products to provide/improve customer satisfaction with a focus on supporting the Electric Aircraft Market.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Team, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure we deliver a successful project, on time, at acceptable revenues, with zero quality defects
• Manage projects tightly to detailed master program schedules and milestones. Coordinate schedule compliance for all deliverables. Manage the impact of material and delivery schedules on the operational aspects of the business
• Maintain ownership of numerous new product introductions, development activities, and Engineering projects across all functional lines
• Assist in identifying & driving continuous improvement opportunities within the facilities and at our suppliers’ locations.
• Contribute to the breakthrough product development process
• Maintain and improve existing products
• Create and maintain policies, procedures, engineering standards, programs, and work instructions

Job Requirements. Capabilities and Success Factors

• This position has flexibility to work on-site in Downers Grove, IL, remotely, or hybrid environment
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
• 7 + years of Engineering design work experience
• Advanced knowledge in the application, design, and theory of operations for electro-mechanical actuators
• Experience in designing actuators for Aerospace applications is required
• Working knowledge of 3D Solid Modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO, and/or CATIA
• Advanced knowledge of engineering part drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• General working knowledge of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
• Knowledge of Stage Gate Process
• Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment is a plus
• Experience in root cause analysis and formal problem-solving techniques
• Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
• Strong customer service orientation/ High level of interpersonal skills
• Capable of occasional travel to customers and plants
