Full-Time SolidWorks Designer (Trailers/Trucks)

Sauber Manufacturing Co. specializes in the engineering and manufacturing of innovative utility trailers, truck bodies and equipment, and many other utility products. The SolidWorks Designer position is responsible for designing and drafting innovative trailer and truck designs to meet our customers’ custom needs. This position is a part of a small, tight-knit group of designers and engineers who work side-by-side on projects. The Designer has direct access to our production floors so they can observe their designs during the manufacturing process. This position is also involved in the product development and purchasing decisions too. While the Designers typically focus their efforts on specific product lines, we regularly rotate and share assignments in the department for a well-rounded experience.

Job Duties

• Utilize SolidWorks to design trailers, structures, and equipment
• Generate DXF files for equipment operators
• Review files intended for press brake software
• Design new concepts and solutions based on customer needs
• Revise existing CAD drawings
• Utilize ERP ( Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) to read work orders, review sales orders, update manufactured and purchased items, and issue purchase orders
• Consult with engineers and technical experts regarding design solutions and design standards
• Research and recommend new vendors. Identify issues with existing vendors
• Follow established technical standards and conventions to prepare models and drawings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Preferably 3 years’ experience
• Drafting degree/certificate, associate’s degree, or 2 years of professional mechanical drafting experience
• 2 years SolidWorks experience required
• Mechanical aptitude, automotive/diesel experience, or machine shop experience is preferred
• RadBend, Customtools, Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation, Microsoft Office experience is beneficial
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and constructively receive feedback
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $63,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
