Full-Time Principal Manufacturing Engineer

As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, your overall responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods
  • Analyzing product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes that support customer requirements
  • Developing, testing, modifying, and creating solutions through a collaborative effort with various stakeholders

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Leading factory-wide strategic improvement projects
  • Managing large-scale design, control, and improvements to the manufacturing process
  • Developing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool and fixture designs
  • Establishing engineering design requirements tailored to manufacturing processes
  • Supporting manufacturing areas daily with process troubleshooting, incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP
  • Leading Non-conforming Material Analyses and Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Providing real-time technical support to in-house and supply base stakeholders
  • Developing influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience creating technical documentation
  • Experience leading teams or projects

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques
  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing or GD&T
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools preference for CREO was Pro/ENGINEER
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines
  • Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and keeps pace with advances in technology
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong organizational and presentation skills

  • The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD – 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Position Role Type:

  • Onsite / Full-Time: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
