Job Description

  • We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for assisting in the mechanical design and building of medical devices.
  • Our company designs, manufactures and sells robotic systems that are used by patients in hospitals around the world.
  • The position we are seeking to fill will involve mechanical component design, fabrication, and testing.The position will also require assembly of mechanical components for company products.
  • The preferred candidate has excellent hands-on skills working with tools and some industry experience.
  • The preferred candidate should have experience with SolidWorks or related 3D modeling software, and a history of building mechanical systems.They should also be hard-working, independent thinkers, have good hands-on skills and have strong problem-solving abilities.

Job Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems that will be used in the medical industry
  • Assemble mechanical systems according to mechanical drawings and detailed notes, using hand tools and measuring equipment
  • Carry out testing in accordance with industry standards (i.e. FDA)
  • Design systems using Solidworks
  • Work with existing clients to identify required features and function
  • Assist management in our quality program

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 3D modeling software, emphasis on Solidworks
  • Exposure to MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience using machinery such as band saws, drill press, chop saw etc.
  • Assembly of mechanical and electronics parts using hand tools
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Understanding of tolerance stack up and how it applies to assembly
  • Good written skills

Experience:

  • Experience using SolidWorks or other 3D programs necessary
  • 1 – 3 years of industry experience preferred but not mandatory

Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

Type: Direct Hire/Permanent (not contract), Fulltime

Location:Sterling, VA (100% onsite Monday-Friday, no remote work)
