Job Description

The ADGE department is seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer/Design Lead. You will design and develop rugged military electronics, lead mechanical or cross-functional teams, transition products to production, and provide sustainment support to operations and the supply chain.  You will be expected to be a creative problem solver, applying your knowledge and experience to develop hardware and to identify/resolve design and manufacturing challenges.

Design:

  • Experienced in Electronics Packaging, design and development of Electronic Systems, sub-Systems, Modules, Circuit Card Assemblies, Printed Wiring Boards, and interconnect.  Supporting RF, Digital, Power, and mixed technology products.
  • Working knowledge of Thermal, Structural, Dynamic, and Reliability analysis
  • Hands On “Working Lead”
  • Bid and Proposal experience.
  • EVM and Project planning experience.

Teaming/Communication:

  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international)

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant professional experience OR an Advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience with designing and/or developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in Military environments.
  • Experience with design and production support.
  • Experience with 3D CAD design tools and/or related product data management tools.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specifications
  • Experience in design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, power distribution equipment packaging, and rack system.
  • Familiar with ECAD development process.
  • Reliability or failure analysis experience
  • Experience using CREO CAD (https://design-engine.com/creo-training/design) and documentation tools.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD – 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
