Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer I will perform broad entry level work on a variety of engineering programs. The entry level role will work on projects for large and small customers with aggressive timelines. The role will also determine an understanding of the customer’s unique component design, validation, and release needs. The Mechanical Engineer I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Partner with designers to produce 3D designs for mechanical equipment in an accurate and timely manner under the supervision of lead engineer or supervisor
  • Participate in engineering calculations and analysis for design efforts and projects
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Assist in the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness of designs
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and next steps to customers, stakeholders, and team members
  • Interface with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfactory technical requirements and schedules
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new and current customer demands and standards are met

To be considered as a Mechanical Engineer, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Exposure to complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical motors and actuators)
  • Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiences
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective manner

A successful candidate may also have:

  • 1 year of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Industry internships, SAE International competition experience (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, enterprise programs)
  • Exposure to DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVPs (Design Verification Plan), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) release systems and procedures
  • Exposure to vehicle dynamic evaluations
  • Exposure to 2D drawing development and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) application and bolted and welded joint applications
  • Familiarity with software suites CATIA, PROe (Pro/Engineer), or MATLAB
