Contract to Hire Mechanical Designer, Creo

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to develop innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications, ensuring designs are free of layout process defects. The ideal candidate will assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations, applying Computer Aided Design Creo 7.0 methodologies, theories, and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Create innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity.
• Collaborate with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.
• Ensure designs are free of layout process defects.
• Assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations.
• Apply Computer Aided Design (Creo 7.0) methodologies, theories, and techniques.
• Review completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
• Provide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community.
• Develop innovative concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new product development programs.
• Prepare moderately complex design layouts, schematics, or sketches to satisfy system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints.
• Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent standards.
• Check completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, conformance to standards, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
• Evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for the producibility and viability of the design.
• Perform and document technical calculations such as design evaluations, tolerance studies, mass and section properties, and static and dynamic loading.
• Identify assembly interference, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design.
• Interface with various internal customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.
• May interface with external customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Mechanical Design using Pro-E and Creo parametric.
• Experience in design, including sheet metal and GD&T.
• Minimum of 3+ years using CAD modeling tools to create complex solid models, specifically with CREO.
• 3+ years concept and preliminary design experience.
• Experience in large structures and large assembly design and modeling, preferably from Military/DOD space.
• Minimum of an associate’s degree in CAD Technology, Drafting and Design.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

The candidate will work in an office setting alongside other designers, drafters, and engineers. The role requires cross-functional communication with various internal departments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 – $50.00/hr.
