Job Description

Northrop Grumman’s Business Unit, Armament Systems, is seeking a Mechanical Designer 3 or 4 for our location in Plymouth, MN.

Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns, and Precision Guidance Ordnance.

Position Summary:

  • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM, or Creo.
  • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present a design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups, such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Mechanical CAD Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Designer, your responsibilities will be to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0, and create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry, and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.

You will work with other engineers, technicians, program managers, and administrative personnel to accomplish assigned tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accept work direction from other drafters/designers, engineers, and managers on assigned project
  • Mechanical modeling utilizing Pro/E / Creo10.0, creating/updating parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry, and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
  • Review work to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Required Skills (level 3):

  • Technical or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design
  • Four years minimum Pro/E / Creo experience with a minimum of 1 year utilizing Pro/E / Creo 10.0. Ability to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0 Ability to create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Possess an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Understanding of Teamcenter PLM toolsets.
  • Exposure to production/factory floor environment.
  • Exposure to or interest in ammunition, reloading, or shooting sports.

Required Skills (level 4): Technical or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design.

  • Six years minimum Pro/E / Creo experience with a minimum of 3 year utilizing Pro/E / Creo 10.0 Ability to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0 Ability to create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

Benefits:

  • Primary Level Salary Range: $67,300.00 – $112,100.00 Secondary
  • Level Salary Range: $79,000.00 – $133,100.00
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
  • Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
  • Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
  • Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal busines.
