Full-Time Mechanical Design Engineer SOLIDWORKS

Job Description

You are an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Designer who will take ideas from imagination to automation. You will concept, design and engineer a variety of projects, including; robotic assembly and material handling work cells, individual assembly stations and robotic end of arm tools. The right candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver that welcomes challenges.

As a successful candidate, you’d contribute the following to our team:

  • Design automated machinery and robotic work cells using 3D modeling software
  • Develop and design mechanical components and assemblies in a cost-conscious manner, ensuring they meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements
  • Size components and select materials based on design requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations to support designs
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials
  • Provide detailed and complete designs and job releases to manufacturing
  • Technical support during the machining, assembly, and installation phase of projects
  • Work with sales, customers, vendors and manufacturers of other equipment to determine system specifications and interface requirement
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking, focused on providing solutions
  • Lead project design reviews with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Estimate time required to accomplish tasks and report progress
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, including ability to work effectively with all departments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years of experience, or 10+ years of Mechanical Design experience
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks is preferred
  • A background in automated machine design, robotic work cell design is a plus
  • Experience in the plastics or metals industries is a plus
  • Knowledge of control system components is a plus
