Job Description

You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) team. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and manufacturing precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries, as well as providing products and services for the global civil nuclear power industry and the military’s green power initiatives.

What You Will Be Doing
This position is for a Mechanical Engineer on PAC-3 Sustainment Operations with a background in mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems and detailed design. The preferred candidate will be assigned to the family of PAC-3 products (premier hit-to-kill interceptors).

The candidate will be expected to screen and evaluate failures, defects, production issues, and/or questions from internal and external customers and leverage engineering teams as necessary to develop viable solutions, usually in time-sensitive situations. Tasking will include the support and documentation (ie, Standard Repair Procedures) of subsystems and components ranging from fielded hardware, supplier issues, missile reconstitution, and recertification activities. The candidate will also be involved in the development and release of engineering drawings and documents, and facilitating through the Engineering Change Control Board.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree.
  • Sound Engineering / Technical foundation and be able to grasp complex issues quickly
  • Experience creating drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic, inclusive, team environment
  • Proficiency of Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Detail and process oriented
  • Takes initiative and works independently
  • Ability to read and understand hardware production work instructions
  • Limited Travel as necessary

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
