Job Summary

  • Responsible for supporting the manufacturing production lines’ daily activities.
  • Justify and implement CAPEX projects for process improvements, process automation, and production testing focused on improving quality and safety, while reducing cost and lead time.
  • Implementing training, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, documentation, production, and processing methods using proven engineering techniques and practices to meet production schedule, quality, and safety standards efficiently.
  • Partner with other engineering groups in reviewing proposals (cost, resources) and in controlling (scheduling, testing) of projects to expand manufacturing capabilities (new techniques, new products).
  • This job is a combination of manufacturing and product engineering.
  • The engineer supports multiple manufacturing departments.

DUTIES/RESULTS

  • Develops and implements manufacturing standard procedures to meet the quality and safety standards.
  • Works to design systems for implementing industrial automation techniques and process improvements.
  • Design new manufacturing line layouts, process flow, jigs and fixtures, and material movement using both 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on new products and processes.
  • Assists in the design and maintenance of jigs, fixtures, and control cabinets and prepares required engineering drawings.
  • Creates and oversees the implementation of engineering change notices and revision levels for all related departments (manufacturing, marketing, QA, purchasing, service, etc.).
  • Provides engineering interface with purchasing (production control) and QA to purchase equipment, service, and materials, and to reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Responsible for uncompromising quality to all work processes in a designated area of responsibility. Has the authority to stop those work processes at any time it is believed quality is being compromised.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • The job requires good writing and communication skills to communicate basic information with peers, customers, and management – both orally and in written format.
  •  Must be comfortable interfacing with many different individuals and demonstrate cooperation and interaction across stakeholders with similar goals, typically internal.
  • Utilize basic analytical and problem-solving skills related to field.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback and/or coaching and respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrate basic engineering knowledge, technical communication, electronics, and process improvement techniques.
  • Required: 2D and 3D CAD (Draft sight / SolidWorks preferred)

Education & Experience: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or other equivalent engineering degree.  Previous experience (3+ years) in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.

Work Environment: This job requires equal time in an office environment as it does in the manufacturing facility.  Time spent in manufacturing is often related to troubleshooting or preparing new equipment/jigs/fixtures.

Physical Demand: The employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for a reasonable amount of time.  It is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
