Full-Time Engineering Drafter, Solidworks

Job Description

The Drafter will provide support to engineers in the design, development and maintenance, and documentation of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as motors, instruments, controls, and pumps.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform dimensional analysis and product performance calculations independently to support engineers working on design projects.
  • Perform layout and design work using current design software and computer systems.
  • Create new and maintain old Bills of Material structure using an ERP system.
  • Create and distribute engineering change orders for drawing, BOM, and process routing changes.
  • Communicate well with all personnel inside and outside the company structure, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Suppliers, Customers, and other personnel.
  • Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings. Uses CAD equipment and software.
  • Follow-up activities in the Machine Shop, Assembly and Test, or Engineering Test Lab are required
  • Participate in or lead Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) reviews and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) reviews with the engineering team.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and three to five years related experience, or a two-year associate degree in a related field, plus one to three years related experience
  • Knowledge of industry developments, trends, and experiences related to the manufacturing of products and product components
  • Attention to detail with basic math skills
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and/or 3D CAD software
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or 2D CAD software
  • Familiarity with InDesign and/or other graphic design software is a plus
  • Good written and oral communication skills required
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
