Engineering CAD Modeler Position at Luxottica

Job Description

The CAD Modeler will work on 3D modeling utilizing PTC Creo Parametric software to produce high-quality 3D CAD data that will be used in the development of new Oakley hard good consumer products.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for meeting with Designer’s to brainstorm and capture their ideas utilizing a variety of inputs including, but not limited to, sketches, scans, product definitions, and various inputs from R&D and Engineering teams
  • Produce tool-ready 3D surfaces for performance products taking into consideration fit, function, testing, quality, tooling, manufacturing & assembly processes
  • Work cross-functionally with design, engineering and manufacturing teams to make required revisions and reach design lock consensus
  • Coach and mentor Associate CAD Modelers
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment to produce multiple iterations and rapid prototypes
  • Track project timelines and forecast completing dates of upcoming project milestones
  • Develop reports and present project status in twice-weekly stand-up meetings
  • Maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with others
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of experience using PTC Creo Parametric including ISDX
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Alias, Rhino and PTC Creo for job function
  • Demonstrated knowledge in creating tool ready, complex surfaces and solid models that are built to tight tolerances and smooth parting lines
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, assembly, automation)
  • Strong communication skills(verbal, written and digital)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems by developing and evaluating options and implementing solutions
  • Possess a high degree of creativity and originality
  • Experience in working within a cross-functional team environment
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, ability to complete project goals with minimal supervision with high attention to details and quality of work

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • MoldFlow and other simulation software is a plus
  • Eyewear, optics, and/or helmets knowledge is a plus
