Job Description

NOV’s Energy Product and Services team is at the forefront of innovation in well construction and renewable energy markets. As a member of a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team, the electromechanical design specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining engineering designs and documentation to support manufacturing processes at the facility in Cedar Park, Texas.

Primary Responsibilities & Major Tasks:

  • Create and maintain engineering design and manufacturing documentation for NOV Digital Services Engineering Groups and other Inter-Company business partners within NOV. Typical activities include:
  • Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and drawing schematics in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Creo of electromechanical components and systems.
  • Generating and sustaining proper documentation for Make items, Purchased items, and bills of materials in Teamcenter PLM software and initiation of the associated EN/ECO to release into the JD Edwards ERP system.
  • Creating and releasing manufacturing-specific documentation such as manufacturing or fabrication drawings, DXFs, label artwork files, and supplemental drawings to support the Cedar Park Manufacturing team.
  • Act as a liaison between Cedar Park Manufacturing and design owners for design deviations, clarification, Design-for-X assessments, and other support activities. Typical activities include:
  • Identifying and consulting with project stakeholders to resolve engineering specification deviations and submitting Engineering Change Requests (ECR) if necessary, including continuous improvement efforts to improve manufacturability of inter-company business products.
  • Providing supply chain engineering support to Cedar Park Procurement by identifying supply chain risks and consulting with inter-company business partners to determine proper mitigation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Drafting and Design.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in electromechanical design and drafting or similar technical, designer role (Mechanical Design Specialist, Electrical Design Specialist, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, etc.) required.
  • Experience in drafting, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, product lifecycle management (PLM), enterprise requirement planning (ERP), and ability to learn different software programs as required.
  • Experience in electromechanical design including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Siemens Teamcenter PLM and JD Edwards ERP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in electromechanical component specification, assembly and packaging of electronic systems for harsh/outdoor environments, and system integration.

Job Requirements:

  • This position will require domestic travel to other NOV offices and customer locations.
  • Observe safety regulations at NOV facilities and customer locations. Attend safety training and wear required safety equipment as appropriate.
