Dose Steelworks, a family-owned company, is seeking a detail-oriented Drafter/Designer. This position will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external customers to develop new products and enhance existing ones. This role will entail creating comprehensive designs to meet design requirements, preparing project/product documentation, and generating bills of materials. The primary responsibility of this role will be supporting the development of design documentation.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of trailer designs with technical specifications through the utilization of CAD Software. 
  • Participate in cross-functional team design reviews to evaluate product designs for proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with designers to identify critical dimensions.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation that encompasses technical design diagrams and specifications, work/assembly instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flows.
  • Compose manuals for new and existing products, highlighting operation, features, and maintenance.
  • Reverse engineer components for design adaptations and provide creative solutions.
  • Create, maintain, and audit accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) data within the ERP system.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in mechanical design, engineering & design technology, or related field with at least 2-5 years of experience in drafting or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Experience with sheet metal a plus.
  • Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, BOM creation
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  •  Proficient technical writing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Pass preemployment drug screening required.
Work Conditions

Base schedule is Monday-Friday 7am – 4:30pm. Time will be spent about 50/50 between a typical office setting and R&D/manufacturing floor.
