Job Description

A Design Engineer Intern will support experienced Design Engineers in creating custom designs for customer-specific applications within the manufacturing sector. The intern will manage a variety of projects, balancing tasks related to active orders with ongoing initiatives at Morgan Li. The goal is to ensure that all Morgan Li products meet a high standard of quality that satisfies customer expectations.

The Design Engineer Intern will utilize design strategies under the guidance of experienced Design Engineers to successfully execute projects based on customer requirements. This role involves collaboration with Project Managers, Account Managers, and Manufacturing Engineers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete 3D design and 2D drawings based on specifications for each application.
  • Generate unique design solutions for customer-specific applications.
  • Regularly meet with the engineering team to discuss strategies to improve design practices and efficiencies to improve quality and increase throughput.
  • Process ECRs to capture all changes or errors caught during production.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and creating them for other members of the team.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and/or other design tools.
  • Basic computer skills, such as knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Good communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and gain experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Possess a positive attitude and an optimistic outlook.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • English required
  • Spanish is a plus

EDUCATION:

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering).
