Full-Time 2D/3D Designer, SOLIDWORKS, WINDCHILL

Job Description

As the Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and assemblies for our innovative product lines. This role requires a creative problem-solver with a passion for precision engineering and a deep understanding of manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks for new products, components, and assemblies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA assessments.
• Create and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and engineering documentation.
• Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to validate design integrity.
• Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.
• Manage design revisions and change control processes by company standards.
• Assist in the development of technical specifications and product requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in the required safety program and work in a safe manner
• Additional duties as assigned by the manager

Who We Are Looking For:

To be successful in this position, you should have prior experience as a designer/drafter, specifically with electrical and mechanical drawings. You should be a critical thinker, able to lead by example, be comfortable with making decisions, show initiative, and be a problem solver.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design with a strong emphasis on 3D modeling PTC Creo or Solidworks.
• Experience with FEA tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks (including assemblies, surfacing, sheet metal, and weldments).
• Strong understanding of  GD&T GTOL, mechanical tolerancing, and drafting standards.
• Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Windchill).
• Knowledge of common manufacturing processes CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative design methodologies.
• Familiarity with ISO and ASME standards.
