Department Marketing Statement

Due to our steady growth, we have an immediate opening for a Senior Product Development Engineer professional at our Plymouth, MI facility. Our newest Senior Product Development Engineer member will perform engineering tasks related to the development and production releases of varying levels of automotive-style exhaust systems. This position would also oversee the DVP&R, DFMEA, design release documentation, and bill of material creation and maintenance. An ideal Senior Product Development Engineer will have documented experience of design validation, durability test development, production launch support, and design of experiments. This position is located in Livonia, MI

Work with internal and external customers for high-performance OEM hot end and cold end automotive-style exhaust systems, ensuring compliance to customer specifications and expectations.
Work with internal and external customers for advance technology integration, including CAN-BUS integration of control systems.
Prepare documentation and presentations to convey program status updates and development progress.
Collaborate with Program Management to ensure on-schedule execution of program deliverables in accordance with gated APQP practices.
Collaborate with Supply Chain representatives on supplier development activities and IP protection.
Collaborate with Sales to establish and vet customer-critical product characteristics and value propositions.
Collaborate with Brand Management to ensure product development activities are on-brand and on-budget.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturing intent optimized designs and VA/VE activities.
Lead technical prototype build projects, including project deliverable timing, data analysis, validation, and test rig development, troubleshooting, and related engineering activities.

Associate degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 2 years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicles or 6 or more years of related working experience.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must have or be eligible to obtain a passport and visas necessary for international travel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn quickly, work in, and support a dynamic team environment.
Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Must have working knowledge of FMEA and GD&T.
Strong planning and organizational skills plus ability to prioritize, make decisions and manage multiple projects or tasks in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing situations and requirements.

Preferred Skills

Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
Wire harness design experience.
Vehicle CAN-BUS system network integration experience.
Metallurgical analysis as a Senior Product Development Engineer.
Exhaust development engineering and manufacturing experience.
Helmholtz resonator design.
Demonstrated knowledge of automotive emissions system function and government regulations.
CAD design software expertise with Pro/E and/or CATIA V5.
Experience with analytical and predictive NVH software.
