Product Designer
Location: Troy, MI

Job Summary:

To be responsible for the design development of new and existing products, in line with planning, process, quality and cost targets. As well as, to produce completed engineering designs translated in CAD models and creating all associated documentation.
Responsibilities:
  • Generate design concepts and produce conforming designs regarding the defined specifications and parameters
  • Prepare and execute design release in the defined PLM system
  • Support design FMEA studies
  • Support GD&T concepts and apply the defined GD&T concept to your design
  • Develop feasibility designs, while considering available manufacturing processes and support the engineering calculations process for mass, strength and mechanical performance.
  • Maintain strong familiarity with specific customer CAD data integrity requirements and apply as required
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Maintain projects & assignments are completed within scheduled timeframes
  • Provide alternative design solutions accompanied as requested
Education and Experience:
  • Associated degree preferred or equivalent 3 years of design experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design of automotive Body-In-White (BIW)
  • Experience in the utilization of CAD systems, CATIA experience required and NX preferred
  • Experience with PLM systems
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering design & Development concepts
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Familiar with primary manufacturing methods
