Job Description

Tournesol Siteworks is a fast-growing national manufacturer of commercial landscape products based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re currently searching for a designer to develop compelling new furnishings in conjunction with our engineering/quality team. We can promise you an interesting opportunity at the forefront of the Green Building market, and an opportunity to make an impact with a company rapidly becoming a leader in the commercial outdoor industry. Because we’re a tight-knit group, you need to be a team player to succeed with this assignment.

The designer will work together with our engineering team to create new products as suggested by the engineering manager. Projects may also involve the evaluation and rework of existing product. We don’t currently have a designer on staff, and need your help! Our products have largely been developed by engineers in conjunction with our architectural customers. The designs aren’t bad, but they lack a consistent design language. We want you to inspire us to be more than we are today.

What you need to know
• We manufacture products for commercial applications – this isn’t residential patio design. Our products are sold to architects, landscape architects, interior designers and commercial developers, so they need to be on the leading edge of outdoor design
• We manufacture products using sheet metal, fabricated steel, lightweight Glass Reinforced Concrete, Fiber Reinforced Polymer (fiberglass), and wood. You’ll be expected to understand manufacturing processes associated with each of these materials, and be able to adapt to market needs
• Our engineering team works primarily in Inventor. Your work will need to integrate with it seamlessly.
• We expect that you can effectively and efficiently model parts and assemblies, as required.
• We need you to be thorough, detail-oriented and work well with a team. We expect a strong sense of commitment, and a desire to move our industry forward.

Most importantly, we’re looking for individuals who are organized, thorough, and think for themselves. You’ll be working on many projects, and will be expected to keep them all moving forward. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. You should enjoy a small-business environment where your performance makes a difference every day.

We take good care of our people, including those who work alongside us. Folks that fit within the group and perform tend to stay for a long time.
