Mechanical Engineering-Culligan

Description
Responsibilities:

The R&D Mechanical Engineering Intern performs functions that lead to the improvement of current products, and the development of new products and components. This individual has basic knowledge of commonly-used engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. This role reports to and will receive guidance from a senior level engineer.

Specific Job Functions:

Collaboratively work with R&D team and assist with developmental research, and analysis of technology
Assist team with test setup, data collection and logging and analyze the experimental data
Design and test water treatment products and the related components under the supervision of senior level engineers.
Write and carry out basic test procedures for evaluating the integrity of a product. Assist in the analysis of design problems to determine the root cause, and then implement corrective actions
Design and fabricate test fixtures for new product validation.
Assit in project management activities , including schedule tracking
Assit with other projects as assigned

Requirements:

Senior working towards Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
1+ years of experience with lab testing. Hands-on assembly and lab coursework
1+ years of experience with 3-D modeling and 2-D drawing creation using Solidworks, or similar software
Able to perform basic mechanical design hand calculations including: flow rates, pressure, oring squeeze, etc.
Basic understanding of design practices for common production/fabrication processes including: plastic injection molding, casting, machining, sheet metal, etc.
Basic understanding of the function of mechanical and electromechanical components including: pumps, valves, O-rings/seals, solenoids, motors, etc.
