Job Description :

Mechanical Engineer for the Military Support Program Structures, Mechanisms, and Thermal Products team.

The candidate will be responsible for the design of satellite system hardware through the full product life-cycle (Design, Build, Test and Integrate), including spacecraft structures, thermal products and/or mechanical integration. Specific tasks and responsibilities include the following.
• Generate/update solid models using CREO, create/revise detailed drawings and release engineering work products in EPDM (Enterprise Product Data Management)
• Review requirements from various sources (dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.), and ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of the products
• Must be able to work effectively in an integrated product team environment
• Must collaborate effectively with program leadership, technical leadership, subject matter experts, peers, analysis, configuration control, procurement, planning and production to ensure technical requirements and program schedules are met
• CPE (Certified Principle Engineer) training and delegate experience is a plus.

Basic Qualifications

‘• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field +5 years experience, or MS +3 years experience
• Proven understanding of structures, mechanisms, materials and processes
• Mechanical design, manufacture, test and integration experience with Flight hardware
• Proficient with CAD modeling, drafting and release in Creo/EPDM with working knowledge of ASME Y14.5
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, surface treatment, etc.
• Experience working with internal/external suppliers
• Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary product development teams
• Demonstrated knowledge of other disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, test, electronics, systems engineering, etc.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity improvements and leveraging new technologies
• Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI government security clearance

Desired skills
• Using CAD model as record of authority (Data Set Rating 4 and/or 6) experience
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications/tools/procedures
• Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication
• Experience with test methods, planning and execution
• Experience with DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) and Sharepoint
• Active TS/SCI w/ poly clearance
• Additive manufacturing experience
• CPE or equivalent training/experience
