Job Description

Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Responsibilities & Duties

• Provide mechanical and process engineering support to all tube production and finishing facilities.
• Research equipment and equipment components
• Develop support resources( consultants, vendors, etc.) as required
• Design equipment and equipment modifications to meet plant and process requirements
• Aide in capital projects and acquisitions
• Aide in solving equipment, quality, safety, infrastructure and environmental problems and issues
• Manage projects as required
• Supports and participates in Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Excellence activities and initiatives
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications 
• BSME or equivalent
• 5+ years experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a tube or metals manufacturing or finishing facility
• Excellent written and communications skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational capabilities
• Strong team and leadership skills
• Good computer skills including MS office software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project software and Solidworks capability
• Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time

• The employee is typically in an office environment.
• The noise level in the office is usually low to moderate.
• The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and various other office equipment.
• When visiting mills the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and stored energy in the form of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and gravitational energy.
• The noise level at some of the mills in the work environment is above 85 dcB and hearing protection is required.
• At the mills, due to manufacturing technologies utilized in the area common contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, oil steel chips, swarf and water may be present.
• At the mills, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Also may be exposed to fumes or dust.
