Methode Electronics Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual for a position as Mechanical Engineer. Methode Electronics is a global developer of custom engineered and application specific products and solutions with headquarters in the Chicago, IL area. Our focus is on design, development and manufacture of solutions for customer applications utilizing our technical capabilities in the areas of power distribution, sensors, human-to-machine interface and testing.


Lead mechanical design of Gen2 controller including packaging of components, working directly with Industrial Design team, and working directly with verification test engineer. Work with cross functional team for completion of all Risk Documentation including DFMEA/PFMEA. Work directly with UL engineer for completion of mechanical testing at UL. Become knowledgeable on Medical Industry Standards including IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-11 for safe design of electrical medical equipment.

Position Responsibilities:

Implements new designs and contributes to risk management process.
Broad understanding of material properties for plastics and metals.
Broad understanding of engineering design tools including FEA, CFD, GD&T, and Kinematics.
Work with team to identify new suppliers.
Support the team leading test recommendations.
Assist in the design and development of tests protocols and reports.
Troubleshoots new and existing products.
Author risk management documents supporting the Quality system such as DFMEA, PHA, FGHA.
Benchmarks competitive designs.
Supports/Coordinates launch (design reviews, ECO).
Supports continuous improvement and lean manufacturing agendas.
Budgets and manages program spending and establishes budget plans as requested.
Works with Best Practice Methods and reports to team findings.
Leads and/or supports TS, ISO, and CE Responsibilities, and Authorities.
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements

Five+ years experience, BSME or BS Biomedical Engineering
Medical device design experience desired but not required, including knowledge of IEC/FDA standards.
Solidworks and Enterprise PDM or equivalent CAD experience desired.
Must be proficient at Microsoft Office.
Ability to interface with all disciplines of engineering.
Must be organized and able to meet timeline requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of pneumatic components, including pump, solenoid valves, blowers, pressure sensors.
Experience desired in Risk Management tools, DFMEA, PFMEA, PHA, and FGHA.
Experience in interpreting/creating 2D prints, tolerance stack ups, and GD&T
