We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer, who will be responsible for the testing, installation, and programming of new manufacturing equipment that’s been designed for high volume production of metals-based products. The candidate will review drawings, specifications, and other engineering data, and ensure that products and processes meet organization’s quality standards. Through effective collaboration and project management, the position will evaluate existing processes and recommend changes that will reduce cost, risk, and waste, and in turn improve quality, productivity, and yields. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to implement the ITW toolbox and quality best practices.

Responsibilities:

Test, install, and program new manufacturing equipment
Provide product line support in design activities, including modification of hardware
Support scale up team from lab to low volume production, then ramp up to high volume manufacturing
Fabricate and maintain production tooling, specifications, and drawings using AutoCad
Update and maintain preventative maintenance systems
Investigate and implement new ideas to improve quality, reduce down-time, and increase productivity
Lead cross-functional team projects consisting of R&D, marketing, quality and production
Provide technical assistance and support to our customers
Coordinate with Quality to develop work instructions, checklists, TEIs, FMEAs, control plans and other documentation
Implement ITW toolbox methodologies including 80/20, in-lining and MRD within production
Lead USa events, continuous improvement projects and new product introduction and scale-up
Support the identification and implementation of Statistical Process Control Parameters and Internal Process Parameters (IPPs)
Ensure ISO processes and documentation (procedures, work instructions, etc.) are up to date for all engineering systems
Provide coaching to leads and operators, and ensure work instructions are properly followed
Provide input to supervisor on performance reviews for production personnel
Participate in weekly stand-up meetings throughout the plant

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, preferred), Metallurgy or Materials Science Field and 3-5 years relevant industry experience, including process engineering, design, fabrication, and maintenance of production tooling
Effective project management skills and knowledge of the engineering aspect of manufacturing equipment, its principle of operation, purpose, and its interaction with the product
Understanding of statistics and application to manufacturing processes, including statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), statistical hypothesis testing
Proficient in AutoCAD Suite and MS Office suite and familiarity with MS Access or SQL databases
Ability to identify and define problems, apply root-cause analysis techniques, and execute a resolution plan
Ability to apply Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kan Ban, change control, ISO to manufacturing processes
Understanding of PLC and process control principles, knowledge of drafting basics and dimensioning, a plus
