In this design role, you will represent Syska Hennessy Group and work in close contact and effectively interact with the Internal engineering team as well as external clients, other consultants, and contractors. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

Mechanical Engineer (HVAC Design Engineer)

Job Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for creating designs for a variety of projects. You will conduct site investigations, perform HVAC load calculations, air and water pressure drop calculations, equipment selections, layout systems, write specifications and system narratives for a variety of projects of different sizes.

Additional responsibilities include:

Coordinating with Architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and plumbing engineers on requirements of the HVAC equipment and system

Conducting and attending meetings with owners, architects, contractors, external and internal design team members

Assisting in the ongoing determination of project scheduling requirements, manpower requirements, and project budgets

Performing construction administration for assigned projects, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Mechanical Engineer role will have the ability to use AutoCAD and REVIT for system layouts, able to demonstrate exceptional spatial coordination for detailed production drawings. Someone who exhibits basic understanding of the practical application of sustainable mechanical system design would be a good fit for this dynamic role. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a collaborative environment, is resourceful, and a self-starter.

Additional requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Accredited Institution or significant relevant work experience will also be considered

Four (4) to Seven (7) years of experience working in a consulting firm or design/build contractor

Current PE registration, highly preferred

LEED accreditation preferred

History of working on commercial, aviation, healthcare, retail, and mission critical facilities

Proficient in REVIT and the latest version of AutoCAD

Proficient in design and calculation software such as tranetace-700 and

in MS Excel and Word

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines
