Where will you find innovation and technology? Right here at Northrop Grumman Corporation. Our Mission Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join Northrop Grumman’s Mechanical Engineering team in Buffalo, NY.

This position involves the mechanical design of electronic assemblies used to support the integration and test of radar systems. Responsibilities include: product layout and design; air flow and thermal management; and structural design.

The candidate will support design modeling and drawing efforts utilizing SolidWorks. In particular, the candidate will create or update layout drawings, fabrication drawings and engineering change orders, give design review presentations and perform some fundamental types of analysis (e.g. strength of materials, cooling). Other tasks will include manufacturing engineering liaison support, hardware testing, and supporting Integration and Test (I&T) operations.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Lead designer of complex military electronic systems
– Mechanical design and packaging for electronic assemblies, mobile equipment design and development.
– 3D CAD design and drawing package development.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
7 years of relevant designer/drafter experience or 2 year technical degree in related discipline plus 3 years of relevant designer/drafter experience.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes which can include machining, sheet metal forming, welding, investment casting, plating and painting, printed wiring board fabrication, component assembly, wiring and soldering, inspection and test.
Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/E, AutoCAD, etc.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security clearance.
