Job Description

Helander Metal Spinning Company is rapidly growing, located in the Lombard, IL is looking to expand their growth potential with a new Mechanical Design Engineer. We specialize in Metal Spinning, Hydroforming, Deep Drawing and Custom Metal Fabrication. We are AS9100 Rev C & ISO 9001: 2008 certified and are the largest producer of air calibration nozzles in the world and fabricate several custom parts for many Fortune 500 companies and small businesses all over the world.

Position Details:

We are seeking to hire a versatile Mechanical Design Engineer whose work routine would encompass below mentioned responsibilities. This position holder will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Review part drawings and customer correspondence to determine the requirements for a part and develop a manufacturing process for the most cost effective manufacturing methods.
Use SolidWorks to create the models and drawings.
Reverse engineer customer samples when drawings are not available from the customer and develop the necessary information (models and drawings) to communicate the requirements for other departments.
Ability to design tools, jigs and fixtures to form, fabricate and machine sheet metal parts.
Create the process routing for each part to increase design efficiencies and minimize manufacturing delay.
Recommend substitutions and design changes to drive cost out of customer parts.
Ability to read and understand complex customer specification and incorporate them into the manufacturing process such as order of operation required to complete a metal component.
Recognize manufacturing issues with parts and communicate with the sales department and customers to resolve them.
Identify issues in manufacturing and support improvement initiatives to resolve them.
Engineering Change administration via standard quality policy procedures.

Candidate must meet these requirements.

Must have Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.
Must have (2-5) years of similar work experience.
Must be proficient in designing & drafting in SolidWorks & AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of fixture/jig/tooling design.
Advanced blue print skills.
Knowledgeable about metal fabrication and/or machining (Metal Spinning / Hydroforming preferred.
Must have excellent communication and time management skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must not need any work sponsorship: must be a citizen or a permanent resident.
