American Louver/Plasticade has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer with blow molding experience, who will manage capital equipment projects and process development in the Production Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and specify capital equipment not limited to: blow molding, injection molding, extrusion machines and all auxiliary equipment and tooling associated with these processes
  • Develop machine installation plans to include riggers, electricians, plumbers, concrete and facilities preparation
  • Collaborate with machine builders to design, jigs, fixtures, and semi-automated fixtures
  • Maintain performance and precision of process equipment with assistance of Maintenance Dept and outside vendors
  • Manage new product and/or process development projects; provide status reports of projects
  • Identify, coordinate and implement tooling, process and/or training requirements with emphasis on continuous improvements
  • Perform experiments in equipment processing and testing
  • Identify cost saving process improvements and perform ROI analysis
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues with assembly equipment and auxiliary machines
  • Assist in troubleshooting blow mold, injection, and extrusion molding processes
  • Develop and implement operating procedures and work instructions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience in development automation and plastics application experience in the manufacturing environment
  • Process familiarity with extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding and extrusion is a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of plastics: HDPE, LDPE, PP, reinforced PP, PVC
  • Knowledge of molds, jigs, semi-automated and automated processes
  • Flexibility to manage simultaneous projects
  • Self-directed; ability to identify and prioritize high value activities
  • Problem solver who is results and detailed oriented
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Strong written and communication skills; ability to interact with all employee levels
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Computer savvy; Microsoft Office etc.
