Description
This is a hands-on position which will provide key technical DFM/A support throughout the Program Launch phase. This person will also take a leadership role in engineering functions such as specifying and validating new equipment and materials, troubleshooting processes, identifying and implementing process/product improvements. The engineer will work in a cross-functional Program Team to launch new businesses.

Responsibilities
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Conducts equipment design reviews with the vendors and the Advanced Manufacturing Group.
Directs program activities pertaining to assembly equipment and coordinates activities of personnel responsible for the design, construction, and implementation of assembly tooling.
Assist with the design of gages, fixtures, and tooling.
Reviews and approves assembly tooling vendors’ proposed designs and processes and follows equipment through all phases of development
Maximizes efficiency by analyzing assembly line layouts, workflow, assembly methods, change-over-fixturing, gauges, work-in-process (WIP) storage, and tool storage.

Supports Program Management generated project macro-schedules with detailed engineering micro-schedules to ensure that all project milestones are tracked and completed on time.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
Works in conjunction with the Program Manager(s) to ensure equipment satisfies project and customer requirements.
Reviews vendor progress to assure adherence to schedules and timelines, modifies or changes methodology or redirects activities as necessary to attain objectives within time and cost limits.
Develops Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements, including Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Process Flow Charts, and Process Design Sheets.
Assures product and process quality by designing poke-yoke methods, testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical systems with an ability to diagnose and eliminate in-efficiencies
Good working knowledge of manufacturing methods, and an ability to effectively persuade people of all different levels within the organization
Experience with lean six-sigma manufacturing and preferably, green-belt certified
Proficient in Solidworks and or comparable CAD software – preferred
Understanding basic financial concepts and how it is intertwined into Mfg process planning and Product feasibility.
Proficient in PLC Controls – preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and work independently
Bachelors degree required in manufacturing engineering
