Manufacturing Engineer

This position with Flex will be based in Buffalo Grove, IL. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by providing technical support in the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods per project requirements.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…

•    Define and implement manufacturing systems appropriate for customer application.
•    Design manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
•    Work closely with facilities, engineering and production operations to implement manufacturing systems
•    Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
•    Create work instructions and coordinate training for facilities and production personnel
•    Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow, design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
•    Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for implementation of manufacturing systems.
•    Coordinate/participate in pFMEA of manufacturing processes
•    Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
•    Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
•    Validate production floor system routing
•    Define process/equipment validation plan and requirements

Here is some of what you’ll need (required)…

•    Bachelor of Science in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering is desired with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in related field.
•    Minimum 5 years related experience in a technology based industry, where automated assembly techniques are utilized.
•    Industrial Engineering experience working in high-volume assembly processes.
•    Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools – robotic, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, HMI, Pick-Place-Pack, Inspection/Test (Structural and Non-Contact e.g. Laser), Application of lasers e.g. Etching/Marking, Dispensing processes, plastics welding and joining.
•    CAD software experience: Solidworks, Pro-Engineer/Creo, AutoCAD or equivalent
•    Microsoft Office tools
•    Travel required – 20%
