Q’Straint is looking to fill an exciting new opportunity for a mid-level industrial designer with 3-5 years of experience to establish the design function and to drive a “Lean Startup” approach to innovation. We would like you to join our team to help fulfill our mission of Making Safety Accessible is the transport of mobility passengers. This will be a rewarding role knowing you will be helping many people around the world travel safe.
Our preferred candidate will have a background in customer research, product concepting, designing and validation on successful B2B products. They should have a thorough understanding of the product development process and how to leverage the Build-Measure-Learn and MVP methodologies.

The position will require the following:

  • Execute as directed against integration of technology and innovation platforms leveraging new VBL
  • Application of multi-level customer insights into innovative design solutions across a multitude of media
  • Ability to participate in programs that require direct contact with customers through participation of qualitative research including customer site visits, ethnographies and focus groups.
  • Work closely with Product Management and R&D Engineering to develop product specifications and validate prototypes.
  • Conceptualize and develop new products utilizing Build-Measure-Learn and MVP approach.
  • Build prototypes to validate design and communicate product value proposition.
  • Design, executive and interpret customer value chain needs.
  • Deliver concept details and surface models to engineering team.
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing industry or consulting design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in team environments
  • Demonstrable experience with manufacturing production processes including injection molding, welding, stamping, extrusions, and metal forming.
  • Ability to apply excellent sketching/drawing skills as a means of problem solving and communication.
  • Ability to identify value as defined from the customer’s perspective
  • Ability to communicate, evangelize, and sell product concepts to internal design/engineering teams
  • High level of competency with digital Class A surface modeling and imaging tools including SolidWorks, Keyshot, Alias, Rhino, and Adobe CC.
  • Rapid ideation, form development, rendering capability (analog and digital) structural comprehension, materials process knowledge and market curiosity.
  • Experience in qualitative, quantitation and ethnographic research principles.
  • Working understanding of all basic shop tools. Additive and subtractive. Working knowledge of materials and properties to achieve desired results.
  • Understands the principles of visual composition and is able to create compelling visual presentations.
  • Optimize ergonomics and usability by leveraging Human Centered Design approach.
  • Familiarity with PC Windows environment and MS Office products.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work in a constantly changing environment
