Are you passionate about designing fun, entertaining products? Are you looking to work as part of a dynamic, global team? The Industrial Designer generates concepts as 2D sketches & 3D CAD models for the juvenile industry (toy or home categories) for both new and existing products. Sound amazing? Interested in the day to day responsibilities?
• Create drawings, sketches and renderings to convey new concepts and ideas to engineering, marketing, packaging and management
• Create 3D mock-ups and kit-bashed models to communicate scale and function.
• Create 3D surface CAD to refine designs
• Prepare control drawings, parts lists and descriptions for the construction of prototypes and tooling models
• Work on concept development with an understanding of cost and the mechanical engineering aspects of product development
• Apply industrial design excellence in the application of color and creation of form and surface.
• Participate in formal and informal reviews and brainstorming sessions to generate new product ideas
• Work as a team player with the different disciplines within Kids II
• Work with outside vendors to supplement internal development resources
What’s your background?
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited industrial design, toy design or related degree
• Professional industrial design experience
• Solid and relevant design portfolio
• Ability to think “outside the box” and an ardent desire to innovate
• Excellent sketching skills: High ability to conceive and clearly communicate 3D objects in 2D space
• Keen sense of aesthetics: Ability to identify the essence of a style and apply it to form across a variety of different brand styles
• Skillful in presenting and communicating your designs and problem solutions to a multi-disciplined development team and company executives
• Proven knowledge of materials and production processes of mass-produced products
• Ability to complete project deliverables within scope and budget
• Intermediate/advanced computer skills, surfacing, rendering and graphics in the following or similar software: Alias Sketchbook Pro, Alias Design Studio, Sketchbook Pro / Designer, Creo/Pro-E, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
